Temperatures of metals are monitored and recorded in many industrial processes with the advantages of using non-contact temperature measurement. Whether in the melting operation or, for heat treatment or for forming or rolling, the radiation thermometer provides reliable temperature data to improve the process and ensure the quality of the final product. Due to the high temperatures, short-wave radiation thermometers of the CT18 Series or 2-color ratio pyrometers of the KT18R Series are recommended. A wide range of cooling and protective housings and optional fiber optic versions protect the electronics and optics from the harsh environmental conditions in the production facilities.
Temperature also plays an essential role in rolling, galvanizing and subsequent coating of metal strips to ensure consistent and high quality. Due to the comparatively low temperatures in these processes, the emissivity boosters of type LT15 EB and LT13 EB are often used.
During machining, the surfaces of the metals and thus their emission properties often change.
